Art Activities for the Families in the

Journeys Spirit

 
  Join us for a summer of art experiences for the whole family inspired by the Youth Wing exhibition Journeys, the permanent, and temporary exhibitions. There will be events, tours, activities, performances, workshops and adventures taking place daily throughout the summer.
(All activities are in Hebrew.)

  Events and Activities in the Youth Wing

 
 
JourneYard

The famous Youth Wing activity courtyard celebrates summer with a hot air balloon in its center and hands-on activity stations all around. Each activity corresponds to one of the Museum summer exhibitions and together create an exciting and enriching journey. Workshops include: Japanese-style painting inspired by Unfolding Worlds: Japanese Screens from the Gitter–Yelen Collection, mask-making inspired by the exhibition Face to Face: The Oldest Masks in the World and an opportunity to create with bamboo as in the installation Big Bambú.

Play a special postcard game with quizzes inspired by the exhibitions. Solve the solution and you can take part in a draw; prizes include two air tickets to fly away on an enjoyable trip!!

Explore distant lands and discover new worlds through play and creativity; take a guided tour throughout the Museum where each traveler gets his/her own 'real' passport.

  Recycling Workshop: Ecology Meets Art
Trash becomes sculpture and odds and
ends become art works! An imaginative
workshop where old maps,
worn-out suitcases, and a
range of recycled materials are
used to create projects inspired
by the Journeys exhibition.

Special Events Inspired by the

 Exhibition Journeys

 
  Journey Happening for the Whole Family - August 26
A huge summer event of activities experiences inspired by the Journeys exhibition.
  • Lectures about journeys in cinema and nature, and about families traveling to inspiring destinations.
  • Workshops creating and sailing paper boats in the Museum's water system, building planes and flying them in the skies over the Museum, and travel through different rhythms to distant lands.
  • Performances: A colorful musical celebration with the band Laughing Cow (La Vache Qui Rit), travel stories in the Youth Wing courtyard, and The Box Theater presenting  "Suitcases and Found Objects."
  • Towards evening in the Art Garden -- A new unique performance by the virtuosic Pyromania group at the base of the installation Big Bambú combining dance, acrobatics, and light with the sounds of wind instruments  5 pm - 9 pm No additional charge. Journeys, a fascinating exhibition for the family, examining travel as a basic human need, as shared by adventurers, explorers and pilgrims from days gone by. The exhibition combines fun activities including sending postcards from a mail box, an opportunity to read short stories to children, navigating a large interactive map of the world, and more.

  The 29th Annual Kite-flying Festival: Journey To the Sky
This event will be rescheduled to take place during the Sukkot holiday.  Please follow this space for exact date.
 Free admission for children
• Kite-building workshops 10 am- 7 pm | IS 30-40
• Meeting with professional kite-flyers
• Watch the huge kites fly over the Art Garden skies (weather permitting)
• Live music at the foot of Big Bambú
