
The Ruth Youth Wing for Art Education has a long, rich history:

Artist and educator Ayala Gordon starts art workshops for children on the roof of the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts. |
| 1966 - |
The Youth Wing is established in the heart of the new Israel Museum, endowed by the Kennedy and Sacher families from the UK, and the Ben-Shlomo family of Venezuela. |
| 1978 - |
Renovation and expansion of the Youth Wing increase the number of workshops, and add outdoor activity areas, a library, a recycling workshop, and a center for teacher training programs. The wing is renamed the Ruth Youth Wing, in memory of Ruth Rodman-Friedman, the daughter of Morris and Gertrude Rodman. |
| 2000 - |
Extensive renovation of the Youth Wing is completed. |
| 2007 - |
The halls of the Youth Wing are used for regular exhibitions while the rest of the Museum undergoes its comprehensive construction and renewal project. |
| 2010 - |
The renewed Israel Museum, Jerusalem reopens. The wing is renamed the Ruth Youth Wing for Art Education. |
